The eye catching slideshow on the home page that features some of the restaurants dishes, really helps give a feel for what the restaurant has to offer.
The design and feel of the Moorings website also matches their holiday accommodation website that I also designed/built for them.

After having designed and built the website for the Norfolk Scouts Jamboree - Norjam 2010, I was approached by the Norfolk Scouts to design and build them a large new website.
The website has been built using the Expression Engine CMS. Built dynamically throughout, the website has a News section, noticeboard, blog, events calendar, google maps showing Scout district maps as well as static pages. The website not only has the public area, but also a much larger members only area which gives Norfolk Scouting members easy access to a wealth of information.
This website has now been featured at number 1 in the top ten UK Scouting Websites by the Scouting Association (Feb/March 2011 issue Scouting Magazine).

Oregano UK approached me originally to make a few small changes to their OsCommerce powered online shop. In time it became apparent that the website wasn't engaging as many visitors as it should have done. It was decided to give the shop a redesign using the existing OsCommerce build to help engage visitors. We also used this as an opportunity to add extra content and make a few other changes to help increase the search engine visibility (seo) - at the time of writing phase one of the seo project has been done, we have plans to take this a step further in the future with phase two which will involve further search engine optimisation.
One of the main focusses of this redesign was to reduce the bounce rate* which with the previous existing design was at a very high 50-60%, within a month of launching the new website design, the bounce rate fell to a very respectable 22-23%.
*bounce rate - the percentage of website visitors that only view a single page before leaving your website.

The owner of Church Farm Barn, approached me originally about increasing the number of visitors to his website. The first obstacle to overcome was the actual design of the existing website which wasn't showing the property or business to its maximum potential.
It was decided to rebuild the website with a new web design whilst improving the search engine optimisation of the website at the same time. The end result has been a growth in the number of visitors to the website, but more importantly a decrease in the bounce rate* to around 22-25% which is a very good figure.

The Watermill in Ixworth, Suffolk, is a special property that needed careful handling to show the holiday accommodation at its best. Being a large property with even larger gardens & water features, it was important to show as many images as possible whilst keeping the website presentation clean & easy to navigate.
As well as an editor allowing the owners to edit the text themselves, the website also has an availability calendar allowing users to check for available booking periods before making contact.

The owner of Old Town Hall House originally approached me to do a few small website updates and modifications. In time we decided that it would be worth while giving the whole website a cosmetic face lift to the same standard as the 5 star property itself.
The website has had a redesign, but not a rebuild - the underlying code is still from the original website. As well as the redesign, I have also put in place an editor so that the owner can modify a few sections of text herself.
The Old Town Hall House website is an ongoing project with new small changes being made whenever the owner requests them.
As well as the main website, there is also a website for two other properties that the same owner runs - The Mews Apartment and the Studio Suite, these have also been given a redesign to match Old Town Hall House.

The Commuter Guide started out as a book - "The Daily Telegraph Guide to Commuterland". The book has been through many revisions over the years, containing updated and revised information in each new edition.
The book contains local information, house prices and guide property values for towns and areas that are within reach of London by rail links.
Converting the book into a website was not a straight forward task - with over 350 towns/areas all having individual pages as a starting point, ease of navigation was a must!
The website has expanded the information contained in the book with the addition of a google map for each town and also the ability to navigate by county, again with the use of a large google map. Other additional benefits include things like automatic cross linking whenever a town is mentioned within an article.
The Commuter Guide is set to expand in the future with more information & more rail lines.

I was approached by the well known Norfolk based author Raffaella Barker to recycle & rework her existing website adding a new blog at the same time.

The website has been completely reconstructed from the ground up using a content management system (cms) that also allows Raffaella to edit the text on any of her webpages at any time.
As well as the blog, we took the decision to also include some social networking and social bookmarking. This has been done by adding a feed from her Twitter account to show the most recent tweet at the top of the blog page. Whenever Raffaella adds a new post to her blog, her Twitter status is automatically updated to show the title of the new article/blog post with a link to it....this in turn updates her Facebook status with the same information. This helps draw in more readers & helps to keep readers interested whenever new material is posted.
As well as the social networking, the blog also has a Feedburner RSS feed which allows users to subscribe to the blog & also be notified when there is a new post - Feedburner also 'pings' many search engines with the new content to help publicize the new blog post.
There is also a comment system that allows users to join in with the blog adding yet more user interactivity.

The website has been built so that the client can edit the text on any of the web pages easily, new articles can also be added to the research section - making it flexible and expandable for the future.
As well as designing and developing the website, I also took the photographs used on the website (except the older images on the about page).
Overall the website has a unique look and feel that compliments the beliefs and ideas that Living Rhythm follows.

Norjam 2010 is the Norfolk Scouts 13th jamboree, attracting visitors from all over the world, the 2010 event to be held at the Norwich show ground in Norfolk looks to be the largest to date.
The website is being launched and developed in stages - because of this it has been built using a powerful content management system (cms) that allows the website to expand as and when needed. The site will also include web pages with an information feed from the BBC, photo gallery, videos and news blog system. An important part of the website was the inclusion of the facility for the Scouts to be able to add and edit the content themselves. (edit: some of the extra webpages are now in place)

The website has been built using html, css, php and javascript. While it is based on an existing CMS, there are also several custom modules that are used throughout the website.
The design of the website is bold, colourful and clean, in doing this it fits in with the other predesigned printed materials for the jamboree and Scout branding.

The Responsible Safari Company is based in Malawi, Africa. This meant that all communications for the whole project were by email only. This worked incredibly well with us being in regular contact exchanging emails regularly. Time differences between the countries involved are minimal (only an hour difference) so all email exchanges could happen during normal working hours.
The website itself is built using a database and a custom editor allowing the client to edit the text on the website whenever they like. The website has been developed to include several engaging, interactive features, including a large google map, large map images, newsletter subscription and information selection panels.

The Responsibly Safari Company was in the process of setting up from scratch - this meant that there was no brand or 'look' in place for me to reference to. Because of this I also designed the logo and used this as a starting point to design the website from. Although the website has quite a few interactive features, the navigation has been kept very simple and intuitive to use.
The website has been built using html, css, php, javascript and a little flash animation.
Since the website was launched, I have continued to provide the Responsible Safari Company with more services including animated web banners and several magazine adverts which all closely follow the established company brand.

Chaucer Barn is a luxury converted barn in Norfolk near Holt that can be rented for holiday accommodation, short breaks and events.
A key part of the website design was to show the room layout, making it possible to see each room in the barn and see where it is in relation to the rest of the property - with so many rooms this was an important and complicated task.

The website has been built using html, css, php, javascript and a little flash animation. As well as designing and building the website, I was also responsible for taking most of the promotional photographs featured on the website.
The website design is clean, spacious, contemporary and easy to navigate - and as such compliments Chaucer Barn itself.

I was approached by Philosophers Barn Mastering to create a website to help promote the new Audio Mastering Company. When I was approached, the new business didn't even have a name or a logo. I assisted them with the name selection and I also designed the logo as well. During my visit to the premises, I also did the photography for the website making sure that I had plenty of images to choose from.
Philosophers Barn Mastering is a unique audio mastering facility not far from Norwich near the Norfolk and Suffolk border. Positioned within the Norfolk countryside, the website had to reflect the image of the business - state of the art modern audio equipment located in an old barn.
There is an intended second phase for the website at some stage in the future that will include extra articles and a blog/news page, for now the website is a simple three page layout that is easy to navigate.

This website was designed for Norfolk artist Jo Spaul to showcase some of her work. A unique site with a handmade feel.
The site was originally built using just html and CSS, but has since been altered to run on PHP (by someone else). The site has changed since I did the original design work, but the look and feel are still much the same.
